The Most Important Wedding I’ll Ever Shoot
Sep 7th, 2008 by Amy Hardesty
On Wednesday morning about 9am my close friend Kira called me. This isn’t out of the ordinary, but what was weird that it was at 9am, she’s at work then, I was in the shower so I didn’t answer it, then she sent a text and then she called again. I thought maybe something was wrong so I answered the phone. She told me that she had a resident, (she works at a rehab facility for people who have had strokes, liver failure, heart issues etc.) she said that this resident wasn’t doing well and that his dying wish was to be married to his sweetheart of 19 years. She said the wedding would just be with a few friends and family and would be at the rehab facility in 2 hours. How do you say no to something so important? I switched my schedule around and got Tristan and I ready and ran over to shoot the most important wedding ever. This couple was so precious and in love, he clearly thought she hung the moon and she was head over heals for him, even after 19 years. I was able to take family photos, wedding photos, couples photos etc, likely these will be the last family images they have. Meeting this family was such a blessing to me and I am honored to have been able to shoot the wedding! Enjoy a few photos!
