A Hardesty Family Update
Aug 13th, 2008 by Amy Hardesty
Ok since I just blogged my last 3 weddings, I thought I should do a family update for those of you who check in on us from time to time. In the last 3 weeks our son has become quite a smart aleck. Seriously, his new favorite phrases are, “I told you not to do that”, “Get me some water”, “I said NO”, “You need to listen or I will flick you” (Something mommy says alot!). I am so totally trying to figure out how to explain to an almost 3 year old, it’s ok for mommy to say that to you but not ok for you to say it back to me. Any suggestions? He is such a joy right now, it is just like someone hit the record button and he is drinking in all we have to say! It’s fun….and scary. Today Tristan and I went blueberry picking with my friend Megan. She is so full of wisdom and a genuine spirit. I always feel so warm and happy after being around her. Everyone should have a Megan for a friend. So she took us to this cute little house in the country where you can pick blueberrys and they have these 2 little donkeys that the kids can pet/feed through the fence. They also used to have an in ground pool with a HUGE slide off the deck into the pool. Problem is they took the pool out and left the slide, so Meg and I are happily talking and picking blueberries when all of a sudden we realize we don’t hear any of our kiddos so we go out to where the donkeys are and I see that my 2 and a half year old is half way up the slide that if he went down it he would have flown (literally) out and down about 5 feet. I got him down and I am just now starting to not panic. Being a parent is freaky!!!
Let’s see, what else has been happening around here. Oh yeah, John and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on 8.7.08 (1 day before the wedding mania). It was nice, my folks took Tristan on 8.6.08 to the beach and we picked him up at the beach on 8.10.08. We really missed him, but we were able to celebrate our anniversary by going to dinner and a movie, Hancock (Don’t go see it, it is stupid and lame and definitly not an anniversary movie…unless you ask my hubby), then we did the weddings for 8.8.08 and 8.9.08 and then we headed off to the beach to spend the night at my folks beach house and pick up our kiddo. It was a great week. Tomorrow we are getting the carpets cleaned, something I am super happy about! (Thanks Jim from Excel Cleaning!!!) and then I have a Christmas card session for some very organized pastor friends of ours on Friday and then we have 2 weddings and a large family session this weekend! Back to mania!
